Description

With high ceilings, enormous ground-floor windows front and back, and lots more original features. Like its twin next door, the house was here in 1824. Its kitchen was added, with listed building consent, in the late 1980s. It has three good-sized double bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en suite) and a study with a built-in bed for overnight stays. The dining room and living room have fireplaces. Useful features include a big utility room, a cellar, an airing cupboard and a capacious broom cupboard, besides two well-insulated lofts and access to inspect the roof. There's even a big comfy cave for a dog.
The large Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsburys supermarkets with underground car parks are within half a mile; their mini-shops are near the tube. Living here, about fifty yards outside the Congestion Zone, qualifies drivers for a 90% discount on the Congestion Zone fee (see its TfL map). If you only rarely need a car or van there are local Zipcar bays.
This postcode is at the top of TfL's 'Fantastic Access to Public Transport!' list. The house is a five-minute walk from Vauxhall tube, a South West Trains mainline station, and the second-biggest bus station in London. Victoria Station is five minutes away on the Victoria Line and Waterloo four minutes by mainline train. Both stations have lifts. You can take an Uber boat up-or down-stream from St George Wharf on the river promenade. Racks of hireable pushbikes and electric bikes are everywhere and CS5 (Cycle Superhighway Number 5) runs opposite the house.
It's close to a big choice of parks, gyms and art galleries, the Oval, a City Farm, the Garden Museum, Brunswick House, the US Embassy, the Battersea Power Station complex (with its own cinema), MI6, Parliament, a Saturday farmers' market, Lower Marsh and the Old Vic. And just a stroll to St James's Park or the South Bank. A great place to live!
